Biography

Paola Caronni was born in Italy and has been living in Asia for over twenty years. Paola holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Hong Kong. She works as a translator, interpreter, and Editor-in-Chief of the English edition of the lifestyle, travel and culture magazine, Ciao Magazine (www.ciaomag.com ).

Paola is very active in the local Hong Kong scene, and she regularly attends readings, helps organise special poetry nights, and takes part in related events. In March 2023 she was invited to be one of the readers at the Hong Kong International Literary Festival.

Paola’s poems have been published or are forthcoming in various printed anthologies (American Writers Review; Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine; Making Space; Where Else: International Hong Kong Poetry Anthology; Wisconsin Review, etc.) and online literary journals (The Curator; Cha: An Asian Literary Journal; The Wild Word; From Whispers to Roars; New Asian Writing; and elsewhere).

Paola’s first poetry collection Uncharted Waters (2021) was the winner of the Proverse Prize 2020 and the recipient of a grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
